Upcoming Rule Changes to Affect Interpreting in Michigan

Updated: Mar 2

The State of Michigan has announced they are making changes to the regulations that affect sign language interpreters. An informational meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. The draft regulations have not been published.

The rules have not been updated since 2014, according to the state filing which begins the revision process. The filing states that the draft regulations incorporate recommendations and public testimony from public meetings. The completed regulations are intended to better reflect standards of practice and the processes of the department that administers the regulations.

Join the State's upcoming town hall via Zoom or in person. The meeting's announcement states that American Sign Language and Captioning are provided.
