The future of Michigan RID will look different from anything that has come before.
Michigan RID is designing programs and making choices to provide local support to interpreters. We're looking for members ready to volunteer and help lead Michigan RID.
Four positions are up for a membership vote this year. The open positions will be:
President
Secretary
Treasurer, and
Member at large
Voting will be held at the annual business meeting on May 26.
Who can I nominate?
If you are a member of Michigan RID, you can nominate yourself or a colleague. Nominees will be contacted to confirm whether they want to run.
When is the deadline?
Nominations are open now through April 20, 2025. Voting will be held via an online poll May 1 - May 24. Elected officials will be announced June 1.
What does a board member do?

Contribute to our services and develop products for members
Make community connections that further our mission

Takes notes during meetings
Files government non-profit documents
Keeps record of board activity
Treasurer (1 year term)
Prepares and presents financial reports
Manages transactions and reconciliations
Files annual tax documents
Deaf Member at Large
Acts as a liaison to the Deaf community
Helps produce communications in ASL
Member at large
Meets students at interpreter training programs
Plans and organizes events to involve the community

Sets the direction for the organization
Monitors operations and compliance
Represents Michigan RID at board meetings of other organizations
Develops relationships with ally organizations
